A 650 s.f. single story addition
and partial renovation to a ranch house build in the
late 1950’s. The addition includes a large family
room and informal dining area for the kitchen and
additional space to accommodate a master bedroom,
master bathroom and full second bath. Approximately
50% of the original house was renovated in
conjunction with the addition of the new space. The
clients were interested in keeping the house all one
story since they were close to retirement age and
also wanted to minimize the changes to the exterior
of the home.
The floor plan creates a visual screen to the
kitchen area replacing the straight open view from
the front entry hall into the kitchen that formerly
existed.
Features include a Balthaup kitchen with Caesarstone
countertops, heated porcelain tile floors throughout
the kitchen/family area and both bathrooms.
Floor to ceiling walls of porcelain tile patterns
were created in both of the bathrooms as a response
to the client’s desire to have low maintenance walls
in these spaces.
Skylights bring light into spaces in the kitchen and
the master bath where windows were impossible to
accommodate. A dining table for the kitchen was also
customized using a stainless steel Parsons base with
remnant Caesarstone for the top. Carpet throughout
the home was removed from the existing home to
expose original wood floors. |
